Dr. Inês Rolo Amado er billedkunstner og opprinnelig fra Portugal, men har de siste 20 årene bodd og undervist ved ulike universiteter i England. Hun er nå ved De Montfort Universitetet i Leicester. Rolo Amados arbeider spenner over flere medier : skulptur , video , stedsspesifikk installasjon og performance, med en spesiell interesse for tverrfaglige samarbeid.
Et spesielt arbeid i hennes produksjon er Bread Matters, et prosjekt hun har organisert, kuratert og selv deltatt i over en årrekke.
Hun sier selv om prosjektet:
«I have organised and curated three BreadMatters projects involving 60 artists.
BreadMatters is a platform for exchange and collaboration, a medium for bringing together professionals from various disciplines, communities and cultural backgrounds to question, debate, and explore the social, cultural, historical, philosophical, political, and theological issues around bread. The double significance of “matters” in the English language is informative and crucial in the context of the event meaning both ’concerned with bread’ and ’the importance of bread.’»
Dr. Inês Rolo Amado har hatt soloutstillinger i Portugal, England, Polen, Italia, Belgia og Norge. Hun har vært i Norge flere ganger, bl.a. som gjesteforeleser ved Kunsthøgskolen i Bergen.
